Having triumphed in yesterday’s big final in the German resort, she won again today, beating Austria’s Andrea Limbacher and Canada’s Brittany Phelan to move top of the overall World Cup rankings.

Under clear skies the 22-year-old Swede led from the start, but looked to have been caught by Limbacher right at the end.

A photo-finish was needed to show she had remained ahead, merely by the very tip of her ski.

The reigning world and Olympic champion Marielle Thompson from Canada, fourth in yesterday’s final, failed to make it through the quarter-finals today.

In contrast France’s 2014 Olympic gold medallist  Jean Frederic Chapuis came from behind to win the men's event.

The 29-year-old, the 2013 world champion, was slowest out of the gate and initially found himself in fourth, only to move through the field and take the win.

His strong comeback performance saw him beat Switzerland’s Romain Detraz and Ryan Regez, the winner of yesterday’s final.

Austria’s Robert Winkler finished fourth.

With the World Cup season nearing its conclusion, the next event is due to be in Sunny Valley in Russia, starting on Friday (February 22) and concluding on February 24.

That will be the penultimate racing weekend of the year.
