Marie Bochet continued her incredible run of form on the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup circuit by winning the women's standing super-G on day one in Veysonnaz in Switzerland.

The 24-year-old eight-time Paralympic champion, who won all five standing golds at the 2019 World Championships last month, triumphed today in 1min 14.21sec.

The time saw her beat Germany's Andrea Rothfuss by 3.33 seconds, while the Japanese skier Ammi Hondo finished third in 1:19.21.

In contrast Dutchman Jeroen Kampschreur, who like Bochet also won all five golds in the men's sitting division at the World Championships, lost today.

He was beaten by Norway's reigning Paralympic champion Jesper Pedersen in 1:11.21, who had been struggling for form earlier in the season after suffering a serious illness.

Finishing third in that race was Japan's Akira Kano who crossed the line in 1:12.60.

Elsewhere in today's action the visually impaired races were won by Australia's Melissa Perrine and Slovakia's Miroslav Haraus.

At the worlds Perrine lost the super-G title to Great Britain’s Menna Fitzpatrick, but this time the roles were reversed as the Australian won in 1:19.64.

Haraus was expected to win the men’s race, and did so in 1:09.77 ahead of Kevin Burton from the United States and Thomas Ovade from France.

After Bochet’s win in the women’s race France picked up another gold in the men’s standing event through Arthur Bauchet in 1:06.66, who beat Switzerland’s world champion Theo Gmur.

Meanwhile in the women’s sitting race Japan claimed gold through Momoka Muraoka in 1:20.60.

She beat Germany’s Anna-Lena Forster by 1.04 seconds, while Laurie Stephens from the United States came third.

Tomorrow the World Cup will continue with more super-G action.
