Russia's Nikolai Kuzovlev and Maria Tolokonina won gold medals in the men and women's lead events to continue their country's dominance in the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation Climbing World Cup in Rabenstein.

Kuzovlev only finished fourth in the semi-final in 5.51sec, but proved triumphant in the final with 5.48.

He beat the reigning world champion, South Korea's Park Heeyong, who came second with 6.13.

France's Nathan Clair secured his second podium finish of the season, clocking 6.21 to place third.

In the women's lead final, Tolokonina showed a strong recovery from a slip in the final in Saas-Fee last weekend which prevented her from winning a medal.

Today, she finished joint first in the semi-finals with a time of 11.280 before winning the final with 18.350.

South Korean climbers won the other medals.

Shin Woonseon was second in17.330 and Song Han Na Rai came third in 15.280.

The lead event concluded the World Cup event in Rabenstein, with the next competition due to take place next weekend in Champagny-en-Vanoise in France.

It will be the last leg of the World Cup before the finals are scheduled to take place in Denver at the end of the month.
