Australia and Japan topped their groups at the Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation qualifiers to book their place at this year's Women's World Championships.

Australia defeated New Zealand 7-0 in their final Group A fixture to get three wins out of three at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok.

Having topped their group with six points, Australia now directly qualify for the Women's World Championships, taking place in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, from December 7 to 15.

Japan have also qualified as winners of Group B, with a 4-4 draw with Malaysia enough to top the group with five points.

Australia and Japan will now face each other in the final on February 1.

Thailand thrashed tournament debutantes Philippines 11-0 to finish second in Group A and set up a semi-final against Malaysia, Group B's third place team.

This and the other semi-final, Singapore against New Zealand, will be played tomorrow.

The winners of the semi-finals will join Australia and Japan at the World Championships.

Elsewhere, the European qualifying began in the Polish city of Gdansk and the Slovakian city of Trencin.

World number one side Sweden set a new International Floorball Federation record when they annihilated opponents France 61-0 in Gdansk.

Czech Republic also opened with a win, defeating Estonia 10-3, while Germany beat Austria 17-1.
