Sweden's Henrik von Eckermann held his nerve in the jump-off to secure victory at the International Equestrian Federation Jumping World Cup in Amsterdam.

The 37-year-old, on board Toveks Mary Lou, was quickest second time around as he posted a time of 33.01 seconds at the RAI Amsterdam Exhibition Centre.

Pius Schwizer of Switzerland and horse Cortney Cox had set the time to beat by clocking 33.34 before they were overtaken by the Swedish rider.

Olympic team bronze medalist Daniel Deusser of Germany did enough for third as he stopped the clock at 33.54 riding Tobago Z.

The top 18 at the end of the last round in Bordeaux on February 19 will book a place at the final in Gothenburg in April.

Mexico's Salvador Onate triumphed on home soil at the Jumping World Cup event in Guadalajara yesterday.

Riding Big Red, Onate reigned supreme in the jump-off as he clocked 42.66 seconds to beat Spaniard Paola Amilibia and horse VIP.

Simon Nizri of Israel, riding D Amour, took third place.

"I knew there weren’t going to be many clear rounds, and when I had the time fault, I felt very bad for myself - because it’s a rider's fault, not the horse,” Onate said.

“Then, they switched the time, and I got into the jump-off.

"I was lucky today, all the way."
