German riders swept the podium at the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Dressage World Cup event in Amsterdam.

Isabell Werth finished in first place in the Dutch capital for the fourth time in her career, scoring 86.810 on Weihegold OLD at the RAI Amsterdam Exhibition Centre to do so.

In second and third were her compatriots Dorothee Schneider and Helen Langehanenberg, who scored 82.675 and 82.440 respectively.

Fifteen riders in total participated in the eighth leg of the Western European League season.

With only two legs to go before April's FEI Dressage World Cup Finals, riders were looking for points in order to qualify for the competition in Gothenburg.

Schneider's second place finish was enough for her to maintain her place at the top of the overall standings with 70 points.

Langehanenberg is second with 68 points, while fellow German Benjamin Werndl is third with 65 points.

Werth, a six-time Olympic gold medallist, automatically qualified for the final after winning the World Cup title in 2017 and 2018.

The next leg of the season will take place in Neumünster, Germany, on February 16 and 17.
