Italy's Roland Fischnaller has a podium finish from every International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Snowboard World Cup event in Moscow and will look to continue this run with the event returning to the Russian capital for the first time for three years.

Moscow has hosted six FIS Alpine Snowboard World Cup events since 2009, with Fischnaller securing three victories and three third-place finishes.

The competition returns to Moscow for the first time since 2016, with the venue, located just outside of the city centre, hosting parallel slalom action.

Fischnaller travels to his favourite venue third in the overall parallel standings.

This follows his triumph in front of a home crowd at last month's World Cup event in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Fischnaller will face competition from his own compatriots in Moscow, with Edwin Coratti and Daniele Bagozza finishing first and second in last weekend's parallel giant slalom event in Rogla in Slovenia.

Overall parallel standings leader Benjamin Karl of Austria will also be a strong contender, as will second place Nevin Galmarini of Switzerland.

In the women's competition, Olympic champion Ester Ledecká of Czech Republic will be absent, instead focusing on alpine skiing for the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships due to take place in Utah from February 1 to 10.

The athlete made history at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics after winning gold medals in both snowboard and Alpine skiing.

Austria's Claudia Riegler, who, at 45-years-old became the oldest winner of an FIS Snowboard World Cup event when she triumphed in Bad Galstein earlier this month, is competing in Moscow.

She will be challenged by Germany's Selina Joerg and Cheyenne Loch, first and third in Rogla.

The Russian crowd will have a number of athletes to cheer on, including Natalia Soboleva, second in Rogla, and her brother Andrey Sobolev.

Junior world champions Milena Bykova and Dmitry Loginov are also due to be representing Russia.

The individual qualifiers and a night-time final are scheduled to take place tomorrow followed by the team event on Sunday (January 27).
