Eight Russian wrestlers have progressed to finals on the opening day of the United World Wrestling (UWW) Ivan Yariguin Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk. 

Two-time world champion Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov will feature in a tantalising 70 kilograms freestyle final against Mongolia's Ganzorig Mandakhnaran, a two-time world bronze medalist.

In the qualifying rounds today at the Football Arena Yenisei, Gazimagomedov won against his compatriot Razambek Zhamalov 6-0 and American Jason Chamberlain 10-0, before defeating fellow Russian David Baev 2-2 with a criteria win. 

Two Russian wrestlers, Abasgadzhi Magomedov and Muslim Sadulaev, will compete in the 57kg freestyle final on home soil. 

Magomedov caused two upsets on his way to the final, beating world silver medalist Thomas Gilman of the US 10-6 and two-time world bronze medalist Erdenebat Bekhbayar of Mongolia 3-3 on criteria. 

Under-23 world champion Magomedrasul Idrisov made it to the final of the 61kg freestyle category, following a 5-2 victory over compatriot Ramazan Ferzaliev and a 8-2 thrashing of Mongolia's Gansukh Otgonbaatar.

Four Russians will compete in women's finals.

Anzhelika Vetoshkina eased past fellow Russian Elena Vostrikova 9-2 to make her first appearance in a Yariguin final, coming up against Japan's Kika Kagata in the 50kg category. 

Mariia Kuznetsova will compete in the 65kg final after beating compatriot Yulia Prontsevitch 7-2 and American Forrest Ann Molinari 7-4. 

In the 55kg final will be Viktoriia Vaulina, who recorded resounding victories against her opponents in the qualifying rounds. 

She defeated Mongolia's Khaliunaa Bayaraa 16-3, Japan's Nao Taniyama 8-0 and Russia's Ekaterina Verbina 6-2. 

The 59kg gold medal fight will be between Svetlana Lipatova and Japan's Yuzuka Inagaki. 

To make the final, Lipatova comfortably beat Uzbekistan's Nigora Bakirova 11-0, before winning against Mongolia's Battsetseg Altantsetseg 9-3 and fellow Russian Zelfira Sadraddinova 6-0.
