Sweden's Sandra Naeslund will be looking to extend her lead in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Cross World Cup standings when she competes in front of a home crowd in Idre Fjall this weekend.

The defending overall World Cup champion currently tops the rankings with 260 points.

Last time out, just before Christmas, Naeslund registered first and second-place finishes in Innichen in Italy, alternating with Switzerland's Fanny Smith.

Smith is second in the World Cup standings with 245 points, while Canada's Marielle Thompson is third with 190.

On the men's side, France's Bastien Midol finds himself at the summit with 210 points.

He is followed by elder brother Jonathan, who has 160 points to his name.

Canada's Brady Leman is third with 126 points.

In Innichen, the Midol brothers both made the podium for two successive days.

Bastien and Jonathan claimed the silver and bronze medals respectively in the second event, with the former getting his own back over the latter, who seized gold in the first.

Beating both of them in the second event was Switzerland's Joos Berry, who occupies fourth spot in the standings with 121 points.

Men's and women's qualification in Idre Fjall is scheduled for tomorrow.

It will be followed by events for both genders on Saturday (January 19) and Sunday (January 20).
