The slopestyle event was due to begin today in France but dangerous conditions forced organisers to rejig the schedule, meaning both men's and women's qualifying will now take place tomorrow, before both finals go ahead on Saturday (January 12).

Originally, women's qualifying was supposed to take place today in the Pyrenees, with just men's qualifying organised for tomorrow.

The finals schedule has not changed, however, with both originally planned for Saturday.

With only one event having already taken place, Sweden's Henrik Harlaut currently tops the men's standings on 100 points.

The 2018 Winter X Games slopestyle gold medallist won the season opening event in Subai in Austria.

Leading the way in the women's World Cup standings is Estonian teenager Kelly Sildaru who, like Harlaut, triumphed in Stubai.

Elsewhere in Austria, the FIS Snowboard World Cup season will also continue tomorrow with slopestyle action in Kreischberg.

At what is the first freestyle snowboard event of 2019, both men's and women's qualifying action will go ahead tomorrow before the finals on Saturday.

At the last slopestyle event in China last month, Miyabi Onitsuka from Japan took the women's title as her 17-year-old compatriot Takeru Otsuka won the men's event.

Onitsuka won the women's event with a score of 86.20 points, having been the only athlete in the field to attempt a 900.

Otsuka won the men's title with a score of 87.10 from his first run, to claim his first Slopestyle World Cup victory.

Just like in the skiing, that was the first slopestyle event of the season, meaning Otsuka and Onitsuka lead the overall World Cup standings as well with 1,000 points each.
