South Korea won eight gold medals today during a highly successful session at the 2018 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Chinese Taipei.

Having already won a number of medals yesterday, the Koreans picked up more world titles today in events including the women's individual under-40 age group division, the women's under-50 division, the men's over-65 age class and the women's team cadet class.

In the women's under-40 class Meehyun Kim took the win, beating Iran's Atousa Farahmand Parsa in the final at the University of Taipei Gymnasium.

Kim took the gold with a score of 7.470 to 7.410, while the bronze medals were claimed by Rosalynn Le from the United States and Denmark's Charlotte Pedersen.

In the under-50 division the world title was claimed by Yeon-Bu Kim who beat Leila Kocheida from France in the gold medal match.

The South Korean won with a score of 7.430, setting the tone for their domination on the day, as hosts Chinese Taipei picked up a bronze through Chi Lin Wu and Spain won the other through Soo Mi Jo Lee.

In the third event of the day, the women's under-60 division, South Korea did not win a medal, but they immediately returned to their winning ways in the next final as Jaewon Lee won the men's under-30 division.

He took it with a score of 7.750.

Having been so successful in the individual events, South Korea then picked up gold in both the men's and women's junior team events and the women's cadet team event.

The only other countries to win golds today were Mexico, Iran and Germany, who won their medals in the men's under-17 freestyle, women's over-30 and women's under-60 divisions respectively.
