Japan's Futaba Ito and Meichi Narasaki won gold in the women's and men's bouldering events respectively at the International Federation of Sport Climbing Asian Championships.

Ito overcame compatriots Nanako Kura and Saki Kikuchi to win the women's final at her home event at the Kurayoshi Sport Climbing Centre. 

The 16-year-old had finished sixth in the semi-final but managed to improve her performance when it mattered most.

In the men's final, Keita Watabe of Japan secured the silver medal behind Narasaki, while China's YuFei Pan finished in third place to ensure it was not an all-Japanese podium. 

The qualification round in the men's and women's speed events also took place today, with Indonesian climbers dominating.

Veddriq Leonardo, Aspar Jaelolo and Alfian Muhammad were the top three qualifiers in the men's competition, while compatriots Aries Susanti Rahayu and Iqomah Nurul qualified in first and second among the women.

China's MingWei Ni was the third top qualifier in the women's event. 

Tomorrow's action will feature the men's and women's finals in the speed and lead events.
