The 2018 International Federation of Sport Climbing Asian Championships are due to begin in Japanese city Kurayoshi tomorrow.

Lead, bouldering, speed and combined all feature on the five-day programme for the event, which will be staged at the Kurayoshi Sport Climbing Center.

Qualification and semi-finals in men’s and women’s bouldering are scheduled for tomorrow with the finals taking place on Friday (November 9).

Men’s and women’s lead qualification and semi finals are set for Thursday (November 8), while the finals will be held on Saturday (November 10) along with those in men’s and women’s speed.

Rounding out the action on Sunday (November 11) will be the men’s and women’s combined finals in speed, bouldering and lead.

Sport climbing was one of five sports added to the Tokyo 2020 programme by the International Olympic Committee in 2016.

Karate, surfing and skateboarding will also debut while baseball/softball will return after being axed following Beijing 2008.

Both bouldering and lead competitions will take place in Japan's capital.
