The Hong Kong player eased past Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo of Indonesia, 21-9, 21-14, at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion Macau.
His compatriot Wong Wing Ki, the second seed, also progressed at the World Tour Super 300 event.
He knocked out Japan's Koki Watanabe 21-16, 21-16.
There was no home joy as Macau's Pui Pang Fong, who was handed a wildcard, was easily brushed aside by Israel's eighth seed Misha Zilberman, 21-4, 21-12.
In the women's draw, Canada's top seed Michelle Li also had no concerns.
The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games champion and three-times Pan American Games gold medallist defeated Chinese Taipei's Sung Shuo-yun 21-16, 21-19.
Second seed Minatsu Mitani also booked her place in round two as Indian player Sai Uttejitha Rao Chukka retired with the Japanese 21-12, 16-8 in front.
As with the men's draw, the home wildcard found the going too tough.
Ng Weng Chi was beaten 21-7, 21-7 by China's fifth seed Han Yue.
