China's Wang Yingliu claimed a home victory at the International Association of Athletics Federations Race Walking Challenge event in Taicang, as the host nation also won the women's team event.

Three races were held in three consecutive days - beginning on Monday (September 24) with a 20 kilometre route and continuing with 12km races yesterday and today.

Wang recovered from a 30 second time penalty to win on day one in a time of 1 hour 29min 55sec.

She then came third in stages two and three to win overall with a time of 3:13:17.

The Chinese swept the podium as Qieyang Shijie, the London 2012 Olympic silver medallist and pre-competition favourite, finished second.

She won both the second and third races but a fifth-place on day one meant she ended on 3:14:31.

Li Maocuo clocked a combined 3:14:48 for bronze as China's A-squad easily won team gold with a total time of 9:46:15.

"Victory" - a combined team of Lithuanian and Ukrainian athletes - was second overall on 9:59.40.

China's B-team came third on 10:07:04.

The three stages of the competition were conducted under a special "pit lane" system.

Athletes were required to enter the pit lane for 30 seconds when receiving a second red card, one minute for a third and one-and-a-half minutes for a fourth.

If an athlete received a fifth red card, they were disqualified.

In the men's event, individual victory went to Colombian 20km world champion Eider Arevalo with a combined time of 2:58.09.

He won both the second and third stages to push South African runner-up Lebogang Shange, the winner of race one, into second on 2:58:12.

Isaac Palma of Mexico finished third on 2:59:08.

Shange's "Latin Power" outfit won the team title on 9:04:16 as Arevalo's "Perritos" settled for silver on 9:07:40.

China's B-team came third on 9:10:23.
