The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) has announced Colombia will host the 2019 Blind Football Under-23 World Championships.

Next year’s competition will be the first edition of the under-23 event.

The San Fernando Football Stadium, located in Cartagena de Indias, will serve as the venue for the tournament.

The Colombian Sports Federation for the Visually Impaired will host the event, which is scheduled to run from February 28 to March 9 next year.

Players must be at least 15 years old by January 1 to be eligible to participate at the competition.

They must be either 23-years-old or under on March 30.

The IBSA have provisionally stated that classification and training would take place on March 1 and 2, following arrivals the previous day.

Group matches would then run from March 3 to 5.

A rest day is scheduled to take place after the group stage, before competition resumes with semi-finals and classification matches on March 7.

The final and third-place play-off would be held the following day, along with the Closing Ceremony.

The IBSA have also announced the Partially Sighted European Championships have been moved to December.

Competition was set to take place next month, but organisers have changed the dates due to requests from participating teams and difficulties concerning sight classifiers in October.

The event, hosted by the Georgian National Football Federation for the Blind and Partially Sighted, will now be held from December 5 to 15.
