Russia took gold in both the men’s and women’s lightweight events at the International University Sport Federation (FISU) World University Boxing Championships in Russia.

Chinese Taipei were also successful taking home three bronzes, one silver and one gold on the final day of competition at the 

Russia’s Ornella Kheteeva won gold in the women’s category defeating France’s Amina Zidani in the final.

Bronze medals went to Hungary’s Kornelia Kitty Nagy and Germany’s Ramona Graeff in the 57 to 60kilogram category.

The men’s light flyweight event was also won by Russia through Edmond Khudoyan who beat Japan’s Yudai Shigeoka.

The 46 to 49kg category awarded bronze medals to Lin Hong-Da of Chinese Taipei and Afghanistan’s Rasool Omari Mohammad.

Wassila Lkhadiri of France took home gold in the women’s flyweight event which accepts athletes who weigh between 48 and 51kg.

Russia’s Gelyusa Galieva took silver with Armenia’s Anush Grigoryan and Chinese Taipei’s Chin Chian-Huei in bronze medal position.

Men’s flyweight category is 52kg and Abay Kuandikov of Kazakhstan took gold defeating Chinese Taipei’s Hong Chuan-Hsung in the final.

Irish boxer Ricky Nesbit took bronze alongside Japan’s Ryutaro Nakagaki.

Chinese Taipei made it to the top of the medal podium through Chen Nien-Chin who took fold in the women’s middle weight category.

She beat Russia’s Anna Afinogenova into silver medal position with Petra Statman of Hungary and Hanna Solecka of Poland taking the bronze medals.

The women’s middle weight category is between 69 and 75kg.

Japan’s gold came in the men’s bantam category as Kitauro Ryouma defeated Armenia’s Zhorzhik Marutyan in the final.

Chinese Taipei and Russia picked up the bronze medals in the 56kg category through Chen Po-Yi and Damir Khikmatulin.
