The French side guaranteed progression from Group B with a comfortable 3-0 win against their Kazakh opponents at the Almaty Arena.

The result ensured France sealed the second semi-final spot in the group and will play the team which tops Group A in the last four.

Portugal clinched top spot as they completed the group phase with a 100 per cent record following a comfortable 4-0 victory against New Zealand at the Halyk Arena.

Ukraine are through with a match to spare after they edged Russia 2-1 in Group A.

The Ukrainian team have three wins from their opening three games and are assured of a semi-final berth.

Russia will follow Ukraine into the next round if they avoid defeat to Canada tomorrow.

Poland beat Israel 5-3 in today's other Group A encounter but cannot qualify as they have played all of their matches.
