Asiago in Italy will host the 2019 Winter Triathlon World Championships, it has been announced.

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) confirmed next year's edition of the event will be held in the Italian town, located in the heart of the Alps.

The ITU claim the venue is the "perfect location for competitions and training of cross-country ski, mountain bike and trail running".

"I am really glad to return to the Alps for the 2019 Winter Triathlon World Championships, and Asiago seems just like the perfect venue for this, with a mix of great facilities, lots of snow, and a convenient location which I'm sure will help to attract not only the elite winter triathletes from all over the world, but also the upcoming stars of the sport, the Para-athletes and age groupers," ITU President Marisol Casado said.

"With the continuous support of the Italian Federation, always contributing to hosting high-quality winter events, and the local Organising Committee, I'm positive that the winter version of our sport will continue growing, with more events coming and the number of participants constantly increasing."
