Alireza Nasr Azadani has been appointed as the new national taekwondo coach of Belgium and will now guide the country towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Iranian is a former national coach of his homeland's taekwondo squad.

Also a former athlete, his main task will be to prepare Belgium for the Games in the Japanese capital.

He will be assisted by Bijan Moghanloo and Mahdi Bibak.

Belgium has produced one taekwondo world champion.

Jaouad Achab claimed the men's under-63 kilograms title at the 2015 World Championships in Russian city Chelyabinsk.

He has also won the European and Universiade titles during his career.

Belgium has never won an Olympic taekwondo medal.

Azadani is also a world champion after winning the under-74kg division in 2011 in Gyeongju in South Korea.

He boasts two Asian Championship gold medals, an Asian Games title and the Universiade title.
