Poland enjoyed a victory over Russia ©INAS

European champions Poland enjoyed an impressive 4-2 victory over Russia at the 2018 International Federation for Athletes with Intellectual Impairments (INAS) Football World Championships in Kil.

The Poles raced into a 3-0 lead at the Sannerudsvallen Stadium before the Russians rallied.

Poland always had enough, however, as they maintained their two goal victory margin.

The win moved them temporarily top of Group B pending a match later today between three-time defending champions Saudi Arabia and Japan.

The event is taking place in stadiums in four towns across Sweden: Tingvalla IP and Örsholmens IP in Karlstad, Sannavallen in Kristinehamn, Solviksvallen in Arvika and the Sannerudsvallen in Kil.

Germany will face France tomorrow in Group A.

Argentina will also enjoy a 3-0 walkover victory over the absent South Africa.
