Czech Republic claimed home men's relay gold at the Modern Pentathlon Junior World Championships in Kladno today.
The home team claimed victory courtesy of Marek Grycz and Martin Vlach with 1,525 after finishing seven seconds clear on the run.
So Hyunseok and Seo Changwan of South Korea took the silver medal with 1,518.
Matteo Cicinelli and Giorgio Malan of Italy clinched the bronze with 1,512 points.
“It’s amazing - after riding I was worried that we couldn’t make it for the gold, but we did," said Vlach afterwards.
"At the beginning I felt quite angry, because my second shoot was very bad.
"I was looking all the time at my colleague from Korea, but in the end I just did my best.
“The beginning of my fencing today was quite good so I hope in the individual it will be the same.”
Individual qualifying is due get underway tomorrow before the women's individual final on Saturday (August 4) and the corresponding men's event on Sunday (August 5).
The mixed relay will then close the Championships on August 6.
More than 170 athletes representing 29 nations are competing.
