Daniela Campuzano Chavez clinched victory in the women’s race at the Pista Pelicanos Argos venue in Colombia.

The Mexican rider completed the event in a winning time of 1 hour 12min 19sec after 18.4 kilometres of racing.

She was followed by Laura Abril Restrepo of Venezuela and Milagro Mena Solano of Costa Rica, who ended in times of 1:12:43 and 1:13:44 respectively.

Mexico’s second gold medal was earned by Jose Ulloa Arevalo, as he triumphed in the 29km men’s race in a time of 1:33:54.

Jhonnatan Botero Villegas of Colombia was closest to the winner, finishing 48 seconds down.

The podium was rounded off by Villegas’ team-mate Fabio Castaneda Monslave, who crossed the line 4min 29sec behind the winner.

Cycling success was among a strong day for Mexico, who now lie at the top of the overall medals table on 19 golds.

Hosts Colombia are one adrift, with a hat-trick of gold medals in roller skating contributing to their haul.

Johana Viveros Mondragon won the women’s 10,000 metres points race, with Alex Cujavante replicating the achievement in the men’s competition.

Edwin Estrada Vallecilla sealed Colombia’s third success in roller skating of the day, emerging the winner of the men’s 1,00m sprint event.

The Games are due to run until August 3, with a total of 470 events due to take place across the duration of the multi-sport event.
