Morocco won the men’s time trial cycling event as action continued today at the African Youth Games in Algiers.

The Moroccans won the 46 kilometres race ahead of Mauritius and Ethiopia in Algeria's capital.

The women’s 31.6km race saw Ethiopia triumph with Nigeria second and Morocco third.

Cycling is one of 30 sports featuring on the programme for the Games, due to take place until July 28.

Athletics, archery, badminton, 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, canoeing, fencing, equestrian, football, gymnastics, handball, hockey and judo are among the others.

The programme is completed by karate, rowing, rugby, swimming, sailing, boules, tennis, table tennis, shooting, triathlon, taekwondo, volleyball, wushu and weightlifting.

Six sports will offer Youth Olympic Games qualification, with places at Buenos Aires 2018 up for grabs in athletics, archery, beach volleyball, hockey, rowing and rugby.
