Top men's seed Marwan Tarek reached the third round as the World Junior Individual Squash Championships began in Chennai.

The Egyptian was handed a first round bye as most other players had to contest two games on day one in the Indian city.

He was comfortable in his second round match as he defeated home Indian hope Advait Adik at the Indian Squash Academy, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7.

Egypt are the global powerhouse in world squash and have the top four seeds in the men's event.

Second ranked Mostafa Asal also received a bye and then played Canada's Salaheldin Eltorgman, beating him 13-11, 11-2, 11-2.

Omar El Torkey and Mostafa El Serty are both seeded 3/4, meaning they are tipped to reach at least the semi-finals.

Both Egyptians were given byes, before El Torkey beat Jacob Ford of Australia 11-5, 11-2, 11-6 to reach round three.

El Serty knocked out Manuel Paquemar of France 11-5, 11-7, 12-10.

Competition will continue tomorrow with the women's event also getting underway.
