Two home pairs will contest the men's final at the World University Beach Volleyball Championship in German city Munich.

Top seeds Bennet and David Poniewaz and 14th seeds Dan John and Eric Stadie both came through their semi-final clashes today at the Munich Olympic Park.

The Poniewaz pairing proved too strong for Switzerland's third seeds Florian Breer and Yves Haussener as they collected a 21-17, 21-13 success.

John and Stadie upset fourth seeded Austrians Felix Friedl and Maximilian Trummer in three sets, 21-15, 17-21, 15-10.

In the women's event, Spanish third seeds Maria Belen Carro Marquez de Acuna and Paula Soria Gutierrez beat American second seeds Emily Sonny and Torrey Van Winden 29-27, 21-13 to reach the final.

Canada's twins Nicole and Megan McNamara, seeded eighth, are also in the final after coming from behind to win an epic contest against ninth seeds Zoe Verge-Depre and Esmee Bobner of Switzerland.

The siblings came through 26-28, 21-16, 15-8.

Both finals will be held tomorrow.
