Argentina beat Brazil to secure the Pan American Men's Handball Championship title as Chile broke the hearts of hosts Greenland to seal the third available place at next year's World Championship.

The Argentinian side clinched a seventh crown as they claimed a battling 29-24 victory at the Inussivik Arena in Nuuk.

Both Argentina and Brazil had already qualified for the 2019 World Championship by virtue of reaching the final of the continental tournament.

Chile followed the two countries in booking a place at next year's event in Denmark and Germany as they overcame Greenland 39-36 after extra time.

The three nations complete the full compliment for the World Championship, scheduled to run from January 9 to 27 at six venues across Denmark and Germany.

The draw for the group stage is due to take place tomorrow.

Argentina added the Pan American trophy to their World Championship qualification as they edged Brazil in an entertaining final.

Federico Pizarro was the star man for Argentina as he scored 10, while Pablo Simonet chipped in with eight goals.

Thiagus Santos led the charge for Brazil but his seven goals were to be in vain as Argentina held on for victory.

Greenland were comfortably beaten by Argentina in yesterday's semi-finals but still had one final chance to qualify for their first World Championship since 2007.

The home team and Chile were locked in an end-to-end battle and could not be separated at 16-16 at half-time.

The match ended 31-31 after normal time and Chile were the better side in the additional period as they wrapped up a tense victory.
