A "constructive" meeting has taken place between key officials from the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in Bonn, it has been claimed.

The meeting, which took place at the IPC headquarters, was attended by WAF President Assen Hadjitodorov and general secretary Mircea Simionescu Simicel, as well as IPC chief executive Xavier Gonzales.

Paralympic Games sport senior manager Jürgen Padberg was also present.

It came as armwrestling hopes to be added to the Paralympic programme.

The sport was frustrated, however, after not being put forward to the next stage of the application process for the Paris 2024 Games earlier this year.

They, along with wheelchair basketball 3x3, were supposedly not considered due to a lack of a quadrennial competition programme.

A statement published by the Sofia-based WAF after the meeting said that Padberg explained the "pathway rules and qualification system for the future Paralympic games programme inclusion of armwrestling".

"WAF will start with a simulated qualification and ranking system preparing for the future admission of our sport into the Paralympic Games programme," it added.

Cerebal palsy football, golf, powerchair football and sailing are the four point still in the hunt to be added or to return to the programme in Paris.
