Great Britain have announced their squad for the 2018 International Wheelchair Rugby Federation World Championships in Sydney. 

The competition between August 5 and 10 will feature 12 teams, with Britain in Group B alongside the United States, Canada, France, Colombia and Poland. 

Five athletes in Britain's 12 man squad will make their World Championship debuts at the event, while veteran Jonathan Coggan will compete for a record fourth time. 

Chris Ryan, who players for the London Wheelchair Rugby Club, will continue as captain, with former Sheffield firefighter Gavin Walker vice captain. 

Also in the squad is Aaron Phipps from Southampton, who returns to the global stage for the first time since the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Since then Phipps has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in his wheelchair. 

David Pond, chief executive of GB Wheelchair Rugby said: "This is an exciting team selection with a number of good ball handlers and some strong strike lines.

"It's the Worlds so it's a tough competition and we will need to be at our absolute best if we are to get through to the final stages." 

GB Wheelchair Rugby, who are currently ranked fifth in the world and are the European champions, lost all of their UK Sport funding after the 2016 Paralympics in Rio.
