Brazil's forward Ricardinho won the top scorer award and was named in the team of the tournament as prizes were given out following the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football World Championships in Madrid.

Honours were announced after the Closing Ceremony of the 2018 event at the Colegio Sagrado Corazón in the Spanish capital.

Striker Ricardinho scored 10 goals in six games to claim the golden boot award.

His haul included the opener in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Argentina in yesterday's final, which was also a candidate for goal of the tournament.

The other nominees for best goal were Thailand's Panyawat Kupan, Russia’s Andrei Tikhonov and Argentina’s Maxi Espinillo.

Kupan was shortlisted after dribbling past four Spanish defenders in the opening game of the competition, before firing the ball into the top left corner.

It was his country's first World Championship goal.

England's Dylan Malpas won best goalkeeper for his efforts in two consecutive penalty shoot-outs, while the fair play award went to the Asian champions and bronze medallists China.

This year's competition, running from June 7 to 17 was the largest ever, featuring 16 teams.

Mexico, Costa Rica, Mali, Russia, Thailand and Iran all made their tournament debuts.
