Hosts Tunisia won both gold medals available on the final day of the African Fencing Championships.

Fares Ferjani clinched the men's sabre title at the El Menzah Sport Palace in Tunis with Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medallist Ines Boubakri crowned as the women's foil champion.

Ferjani, a Rio 2016 Olympian, edged Mohamed Amer of Egypt 15-13 in his gold medal contest.

Bronze medals went to Egypt's Mohab Samer and Tunisia's Hichem Smandi.

Boubakri, who also boasts a World Championship bronze medal from 2014 in her collection, beat Egyptian Yara Elsharkawy 15-5 to win her final.

Both bronze medals went to Egyptian fencers, courtesy of Noha Hany and Noura Mohamed.

North African nations have dominated the event in the Tunisian capital, winning all of the gold medals on offer.

The competition followed an International Fencing Federation Sabre World Cup in the city.
