Brazil's Daniel Dias will hope to move closer to defending the World Para Swimming World Series title when he takes to the pool in Sheffield tomorrow.

The multiple Paralympic champion triumphed in the overall men's competition last year, the inaugural season of the event.

He currently heads the standings after four events this season, with the penultimate competition set to begin at Ponds Forge.

Dias will compete in three S5 class races over the four days of competition in the British city, with action concluding on Sunday (June 3).

Colombia's Carlos Serrano, an S7 swimmer, will hope to close the gap on the Brazilian star.

He is also expected to contest three races.

The women's standings are topped by the United States' Rebecca Meyers, who will not be competing in Sheffield.

Hungary’s Bianka Pap, who currently lies fifth overall, could considerably close the gap on the American.

Pap is poised to contest five events over the coming days.

Swimmers' performances are ranked on a points scale depending on their classification throughout the event, which are used to determine the final champions.

The series is set to conclude next month, with the final event taking place in Berlin from June 7 to 10.
