Australian Taekwondo has announced details of its qualification tournament for this year's Oceania Championships.

The event will take place at the AIS Combat Centre in Bruce, a suburb of capital Canberra, on July 7 and 8.

Senior, junior and cadet qualification events will take place in kyorugi taekwondo with poomsae and Para-taekwondo disciplines also contested.

Following the event, Australia will select its athletes for the Oceania Championships in Papeete in Tahiti. 

These will run for three days between August 2 and 5.

The qualification event will also double up as the Cool Climate Classic competition.

"This selection event serves as an opportunity for our taekwondo athletes to display their skills to the full," said Australian Taekwondo chief executive John Gradisar.

"Also, I am confident that these eighth Oceania Championships will be an occasion to exchange friendship among athletes in the region and from all parts of the globe and celebrate the success of our sport."
