Brazil’s Joilson De Brito Ramos Junior claimed the first bronze medal by beating Dominican Republic’s Luis Alfredo De Leon 9-6 before Peru’s Mario Bernardo Molina Cortez won 6-0 against Jose Alejandro Varela Garcia of Guatemala for the second.

Oscar Pino Hinds claimed the gold medal for Cuba in the 130kg division, after he overcame the United States’ Robert Smith 5-0 in the final.

They were joined on the podium by Mexico’s Luis Roman Barrios, who earned a victory by fall over Jose Erazo Henriquez of El Salvador.

The second bronze medal was claimed by Chile’s Yasmani Acosta Fernandez following his 8-0 success against Edgardo Lopez Morell of Puerto Rico.

Cuba’s third and final title on the opening day was secured by Luis Orta Sanchez in the 60kg competition.

He triumphed due to Domincian Republic’s Jancel Miguel Pimentel Gonzalez defaulting the match due to injury.

Ecuador’s Andrés Montaño emerged as a 12-1 victor in the first bronze medal match against Colombia’s Dicther Toro Castaneda.

Marat Garipov of Brazil then clinched a 6-3 win over home favourite Cristhian Paravecino Navarro to secure the final podium place.

The United States celebrated two gold medals.

Ryan Mango won the 63kg gold after winning all four of his bouts in the round robin event.

Peru’s Gerardo Oliva Montes and Puerto Rico’s German Diaz Maldonado rounded off the medal places in the division.

Ravaughn Perkins claimed gold in the 72kg event, the American followed by Wuileixis de Jesus Rivas Espinoza of Venezuela and Peru’s Christopher Palacios Alexander, who earned silver and bronze medals respectively.

Brazil’s Sargis Khachatryan triumphed in the 55kg division, with America's Max Nowry taking silver.

The bronze medal was claimed by Brandon Escobar Amador of Honduras.

The final gold medal of the day was claimed by Luillys Jose Perez Mora,  the Venezuelan beating Honduras’ Kevin Mejia Castillo 2-0 in the 96kg event.

Colombia’s Oscar Loango Solis beat Puerto Rico’s Charles Merrill by the same score to take the first bronze, the second being earned by Gabriel Rosillo Kindelan of Cuba as he overcame Guatemala’s Lester Enriquez Calderon 10-2.

Greco-Roman competition is due to continue tomorrow, with women's freestyle gold medal bouts scheduled for Saturday (April 5).

Finals in the men's freestyle division will bring the event to a close.

Qualification for next year's Pan American Games in Lima is on offer during the four-day event.
