Belgium’s Henri Demesmaeker and Frederique Van Eupen have come out on top at the Nacra 15 World Championships as action concluded today at the Barcelona International Sailing Centre.

The duo finished on 36 points following the final four races.

France’s Doran Gouron Le Roch and Kenza Coutard ended up second with 63 points.

Compatriots Thomas Proust and Martineau Clement, who led after yesterday’s three races, rounded out the top three with 73 points.

They were also the strongest performers in the under-16 division.

Belgium’s Axelle Van Eupen and Justine Van Tongel took home the World Championship in the female category.

A total of 60 teams from 18 countries had gathered for these Championships, which offered the chance to qualify for this year’s Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

Seven places for Buenos Aires 2018 were available in Barcelona to countries which had not already qualified through continental events.
