Iran today added a fourth gold medal to their total at the World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Tunisia to stay top of the medal table.

Day three’s action at La Salle Couverte in Hammamet ended with Azerbaijan, the United States and Chinese Taipei winning their first golds.

Hamed Asghari Mahiabadi, the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games gold medallist, extended the Iranian run of success with victory in the junior men’s over-59 kilograms category.

Anastasija Zolotic contributed the United States’ opening victory in the junior women’s under-52kg, while the other winners were Chinese Taipei’s Chia-Ling Lo in the junior women’s under-55kg and Javad Aghayev of Azerbaijan in the junior men’s under-63kg.

Iran remains in the overall lead with four gold and two bronze medals.

South Korea are second with two golds and two bronze medals and Russia third with one silver and five bronze medals.

Zolotic earned the first gold of the day with an emphatic front kick to the head of her opponent Ozoda Sobirjonova of Uzbekistan in golden time.

The bronze medals were won by Vanessa Beckstein of Germany and Gabriela Briskarova of Slovakia.

Mahiabadi was always in control of his final against Turkey’s Arslan Demir, eventually earning a 29-2 result.

Young-Jun Lee of Korea and Gabriel Ramos of Brazil claimed the bronze medals.

Chia-Ling Lo earned a 15-6 win in her final against Anastasiia Nosova of Russia to secure her second world junior gold medal in the women's under-55kg.

Fani Tzeli of Greece and Junli Yang of China won bronze medals. 

The last final of the day saw Aghayev earned gold by a single point, 14-13, over Gabriele Caulo of Italy.

The bronze medals were claimed by Erfan Moradi of Iran and Nedzad Husic of Bosnia and Hercegovina.
