"A FISE without rain is not a FISE," the organisers said as they announced a re-shaped programme that will start at 7.40am, three hours earlier than planned, with qualification for the International Cycling Union (UCI) BMX Freestyle events for men and women.

The Japanese city is hosting the second of this year’s World Series legs - an umbrella event involving sports such as BMX, skateboarding, roller freestyle, bouldering and now parkour - following last month's launch event in Jeddah.

FISE has teamed up with several International Federations which means official World Cups can be incorporated.

The first Parkour World Cup to be held by the International Gymnastics Federation will now have qualification for speed run and freestyle tomorrow morning, before the evening's speed run final.

Tomorrow will also see the finals held for skateboard street pro at the former Municipal Baseball Stadium which is a short walk from the Peace Memorial Park.

Sunday's (April 8) programme will culminate in four finals of the International Federation of Sport Climbing Bouldering International Series, the UCI BMX Freestyle and Flatland events, and the World Skate Roller Freestyle Park.

The Peace Memorial Park was created in 1954 to promote peace in the world, and is dedicated to the legacy of Hiroshima as the first city in the world to suffer a nuclear attack. 

The United States dropped their bomb on August 6, 1945.  

Accordingly, today's events on the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace began with observance of the #WhiteCard campaign, a symbolic initiative celebrating the power of sport to promote peace.

The ceremony was attended by former Olympic athlete Charmaine Crooks of Canada.

"By hosting a worldwide event like FISE in our city as a symbol of international peace, we are taking the opportunity to promote its values of diversity and peace in the world," a spokesperson for the city added.
