Olympic gold medallist Michela Moioli topped qualification as the final Snowboard Cross World Cup leg of the season began in Veysonnaz.

The 22-year-old Italian, the champion at Pyeongchang 2018 last month, clocked the quickest time of 59.63 to head the 24 qualifiers for tomorrow's races.

Moioli has already wrapped up the overall World Cup title so the pressure is off her in Veysonnaz.

France's Charlotte Bankes was the only other rider to break the minute mark as she timed in at 59.89.

Another Frenchwoman was third fastest as Olympic bronze medallist Chloe Trespeuch stopped the watches at 1:00.24.

The men's overall World Cup champion has also already been decided with France's back-to-back Olympic gold medallist and reigning world champion Pierre Vaultier confirmed as the winner.

His compatriot Mick Dierdorff was second fastest down in 53.87 as Emanuel Perathoner managed 54.39 to go through as the third quickest.

Finals for both men and women will be held tomorrow with team events on Sunday (March 18).

Two days of Parallel Snowboard World Cup action will also begin tomorrow as the season concludes in Winterberg in Germany.

Switzerland's Nevin Galmarini and Ester Ledecká of the Czech Republic, a double Olympic gold medallist in Pyeongchang in skiing and snowboard, have already won the men's and women's overall titles.
