Sweden claimed the overall  title after collecting two medals in the mixed sprint relay competition on the final day of action of the Ski Orienteering World Cup Final at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Vermont.

Despite having to contend with a broken ski on the last leg of the course, eight-time World Championship medallist Erik Rost, along with overall women’s World Cup champion Tove Alexandersson, completed the course in a time of 49min 04sec to win their second consecutive mixed sprint relay event of the season.

It secured Sweden the World Cup title in the process.

Russian duo Tatyana Oborina and four-time World Cup champion Eduard Khrennikov were just 19 seconds behind the winners in the silver medal position.

Martin Hammarberg and Magdalena Olsson ensured Sweden collected two of the three medals on offer as they clinched bronze thanks to a time of 50:08.

Sweden won the team competition by virtue of having collected 53 points throughout the season with Russia in second on 49, just two ahead of Finland in third.

Today's victory also means that Alexandersson now has two World Cup gold medals to her name for the season after clinching the individual title earlier in the season.

Russia's Andrey Lamov also won the men's individual title with several races to spare.
