The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has unveiled a French-language version of its website.

Available here, the site targets 275 million French speakers across the world.

WBSC content is now available online in six languages, also including English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Traditional Chinese.

This means more than two billion people can read the WBSC website in a language they understand.

"We are proud to provide this service to the French-speaking communities and our National Federations in Europe, Africa and around the world," said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari, who himself speaks French.

"WBSC has a responsibility to our athletes and to our sport to do everything we can to increase the global popularity of our sport and to make every effort to secure baseball and softball's long-term Olympic future.

"So wherever the Games are held, baseball and softball events will deliver consistent added value and wider appeal to the Olympic Programme."

France is a key market for the WBSC with Paris hosting the 2024 Olympic Games.

Baseball and softball will return to the Olympic programme at Tokyo 2020, after being axed following Beijing 2008, but their place in the French capital is not assured.

The Francophone Association of Baseball Softball was founded in 2014 and has since been working to promote and develop baseball and softball in a network of 77 French-speaking countries.
