Former world champion Dai Greene has been added to the Welsh athletics squad for next month's Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

The 400 metres hurdler won gold at the European Championships and Commonwealth Games in 2010 before triumphing at the World Championships in Daegu the following year.

He finished fourth at the London 2012 Olympics and has suffered with years of injury problems since.

But the 31-year-old broke the 50 second barrier for the first time in three years in running two qualifying times in South Africa last week to secure his place, including a best of 49.38sec.

Hammer thrower Carys Parry, hurdler Caryl Granville and decathlete Curtis Mathews have also been added to the team.

Greene and Parry will both compete at a fourth Games.

Seren Bundy-Davies has withdrawn her nomination from the 400m, however, after being chosen initially.

"We're very happy to confirm even more great news on selection this week, and delighted to formally welcome Dai, Carys, Caryl and Curtis to Team Wales," said Helen Phillips, chair of the Commonwealth Games Wales Board.

"Congratulations to the four of them on meeting the selection criteria within the timescale given.

"We wish Seren the very best of luck as she continues with her preparations for the European Championships this summer."

Other members of the 19-strong Welsh team include pole vaulter Sally Peake, marathon runner Josh Griffiths and high hurdler David Omoregie.

Six Para-athletes were also chosen in November including sprinter Rhys Jones and Olivia Breen, long jumper Beverley Jones and javelin thrower Hollie Arnold.
