The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has announced that this year's 3x3 World Tour will grow from eight to 10 events.

The expansion comes with 3x3 basketball now a fully-fledged Olympic discipline which will make its Games debut at Tokyo 2020.

This year's World Tour will be the seventh edition of a global circuit which features city-based sides.

It will begin with the Saskatoon Masters in Canada on July 21 and 22 before heading to Utsunomiya in Japan on July 28 and 29.

Czech capital Prague will stage competition between August 4 and 5 with Olympic hub Lausanne in Switzerland taking centre stage between August 24 and 25.

Debrecen in Hungary will be the focus on August 30 and 31 with the Tour then heading to the Americas for legs in Mexico City and Ecuador's capital Quito between September 8 and 9 and September 22 and 23 respectively.

The season's action will conclude in Asia, with Chengdu in China staging a World Tour leg on September 29 and 30.

Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur will host the penultimate event on October 6 and 7 before the season-ending finals in Chinese capital Beijing on October 27 and 28.

Quito and Kuala Lumpur will both be making their maiden appearances on the circuit.

"Adding two more events to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour is a giant step forward," FIBA 3x3 managing director Alex Sanchez said.

"It shows the ever-increasing interest for our Olympic sport, especially from new organisers."

As well as the two new events, the overall prize purse for the tour will top $1 million (£720,000/€814,000) for the first time.

"This is a crucial milestone for us," Sanchez added.

"We want to give our current and future stars the financial means to dedicate themselves to the game and bring it to an even more spectacular level."

The top 12 sides in the rankings, including the winners of each stage, will qualify for the Beijing Finals.

Serbia's Zemun Master won last year's World Tour title.
