The Estonian city of Tartu will host the 2018 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Ski Orienteering Championship from tomorrow until February 25.

The event, which will be organised by the Estonian Academic Sports Federation (EASF) and the Estonian Orienteering Federation (EOF), with support from the City of Tartu and the Estonian Ministries of Culture and Education and Research, is the second FISU ski orienteering tournament of the season.

The competition over the next four days will see the best male and female university ski orienteering athletes compete in four disciplines - sprint, pursuit, mixed relay and middle distance mass start.

Organisers say that preparations for the competition are going well with plenty of snow on the ground, whilst they are also taking the variable low altitude Estonian weather into consideration.

A total of 72 competitors from 14 teams will compete at the Championships in Tartu, which is home to the National University of Estonia.

Tartu has recent experience of hosting orienteering events having held the World Orienteering Championships in July 2017.
