Favourites and hosts Kenya defended their women's wheelchair tennis World Team Cup Africa Qualification title thanks to victory over Tanzania on the clay courts of the Nairobi Club.

It means they qualify for the upcoming Team World Cup in The Netherlands.

The final was contested over the course of two singles and one doubles match.

World number 108 Jane Ndenga got the hosts off to a good start with her 6-3, 6-2 win over Lucy Shirima, putting Kenya on the verge of victory.

Tanzania, however, levelled the tie thanks to Rehema Selemani's 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Phoebe Masika

Eventually, home advantage was made to count with Masika and Ndenga securing the title for Kenya thanks to a 6-2, 6-2 win in the doubles match.

Morocco put in a dominant performance against Egypt in the final of the men's event to also book their place at the World Cup.

Said Himan got the ball rolling with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Tarek Abbas Gharib Zahry before his compatriot and world number 47 Lhaj Boukartacha thrashed Mohamed Sobhy Sobhy Ragab Abedlhafez 6-0, 6-0.

Morocco then confirmed their title and spot at the upcoming World Cup with a convincing 6-3, 6-3 win in the doubles match, giving them a 3-0 win overall.

The World Cup will take place in Apeldoorn from May 28 to June 3 and will be hosted by the Royal Dutch Lawn Tennis Association.
