Scotland's team for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games has moved to more than 200 athletes following a further 92 being added to their squad.

The latest selections include Olympic and world medallists as well as defending Commonwealth Games champions.

A total of 10 sports are represented in the additions to the team, which were announced at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

The selection includes Rio 2016 Olympic champion cyclists Katie Archibald and Callum Skinner, who were part of the British women's team pursuit and men's team sprint squads which claimed gold at the Games.

Skinner also won a silver medal in the individual sprint at Rio 2016.

Archibald will be joined by her older brother John in the squad, with the pair earning the women's and men's points race titles at the British Championships.

Rio 2016 mountain bike rider Grant Ferguson is also included among the 16 cycling selections, along with double Glasgow 2014 gold medallist Neil Fachie, who will team up with Matt Rotherham in the men's tandem events.

Tandem pairing Aileen McGlynn and Louise Haston will hope to improve on their two silver medals from their home Games in Glasgow.

Jack Carlin, Mark Stewart, Jonathan Wale and Neah Evans are also among the cycling selections having earned World Cup medals in the last two years.

World and Olympic medallist Dan Purvis is set to head the Scottish gymnastics squad at Gold Coast 2018.

The reigning British champion on floor and vault will be joined by Frank Baines, with the pair having formed part of the Scottish team which claimed silver in the team event in Glasgow.

"I was so proud and relieved to win the full set of medals in Glasgow, especially with it being a home Games," said Purvis.

"The biggest medal for me though was the team silver.

"I felt so proud standing on the podium with my team-mates having created history for Scottish Gymnastics.

"It's something I’ll never forget."

Scottish all-around champion Kelvin Cham, Hamish Carter and David Weir have also been included in the eight strong team.

They are joined by Cara Kennedy, Isabella Tolometti and Shannon Archer, who won four gold medals at the Scottish Championships.

Kirsty Gilmour will lead Scotland's challenge in the badminton competition, with the Rio 2016 Olympian joined by Kieran Merrilees, as they both compete at their third Commonwealth Games.

Men's doubles pairing Martin Campbell and Patrick MacHugh also return from Glasgow 2014, with rising stars Eleanor O’Donnell, Julie MacPherson, Alex Dunn and Adam Hall also hoping to make an impact.

Scotland's netball team has also been selected, with half of the 12-member squad returning from Glasgow 2014.

They will be captained by Claire Brownie, with Lynsey Gallagher serving as the vice-captain.

Scotland will also be represented in the men's and women's hockey tournaments, with 18 member squads for both teams now confirmed.

The latest selection also includes four divers, with Grace Reid chosen for her third Commonwealth Games.

She will be joined by James Heatly, Gemma MacArthur and Lucas Thomson.

Rio 2016 Olympian Camilla Hattersley and Abbie Houston have also been added to their swimming squad.

Glasgow 2014 medallists Alex Gladkov and Viorel Etko are included in a four-strong wrestling squad, with the pair joined by Ross Connelly and Joe Hendry.
