Organisers of the upcoming 2018 International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Beach Volleyball Championship have met in the host city Munich to finalise preparations for the competition.

The meetings, held on the campus of the Technical University of Munich, were attended by FISU Senior Executive Committee member Verena Burk, who is also President of the upcoming tournament, and competition director Roland Höfer.

Topics discussed included the logistics, marketing and finances of the event along with the development of a cultural programme.

Additionally, Höfer presented the preliminary competition schedule, which confirmed the tournament dates of July 9 to 13.

Burk expressed her excitement at the upcoming championship in the German city.

"We are pleased about the outstanding number of registrations and look forward to some high-quality games," she said.

"The World University Beach Volleyball Championship will be completed by various cultural programmes.

"It is important to give the athletes and guests from all over the world the opportunity to get to know Munich, a 'cosmopolitan city with a heart', and to promote intercultural communication.

"We have a couple other exciting plans for players and fans when they're in Munich for the World University Championship event, but more will be revealed at a later time.
