Canada took a halfway lead in their International Floorball Federation (IFF) Americas Men's World Championship Qualifier against the United States, winning 3-2 in the first of two matches due to be played this weekend at Ryerson University in Toronto.

The matches will decide who earns the one spot from the Americas available at the World Championship.

In the IFF rankings, the United States are currently 11th with Canada 12th so the sides are evenly matched - as today’s result demonstrates.

This weekend’d competition follows qualification events which have already taken place in Asia/Oceania and across Europe.

The Czech capital Prague is due to host the World Championships between December 1 and 9 this year.

Finland are the defending champions.
