Acting Governor of the Krasnoyarsk region Alexander Uss and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin have signed a cooperation agreement for the 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk.

The agreement will see the two cities exchange experiences of holding international sporting competitions and cultural events to help preparations for Krasnoyarsk 2019.

It will also see experts from the local Government in Moscow share their experience in urban planning with Krasnoyarsk specialists, ensuring that cultural and historical heritage of Krasnoyarsk is still preserved in a comfortable urban environment.

The two parties have also agreed to organise joint exhibitions and conferences for the Games,

It has also been announced that the Russian capital will be the starting point of the Russian leg of the Torch Relay for the 2019 Winter Universiade.

Uss expressed his delight at the new partnership.

"The signing of the agreement is logical," he said.

"Moscow is a large metropolis, a modern city and the heart of Russia.

"But it's geographical centre is on the banks of the Yenisei.

"I am sure that this agreement will make an already established relationship more reliable and powerful."

The 2019 Winter Universiade is scheduled to take place from March 2 to 12 next year.
