The 2018 EurAsia Cup, the third edition of the competition, starts tomorrow with 12-man golf teams from Europe and Asia coming up against each other at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam.

The European team, who won the 2016 EurAsia Cup at the same venue, will be captained by Thomas Bjørn of Denmark, who has 21 professional titles to his name.

England's Tommy Fleetwood, who finished fourth at the 2017 US Open and is the number one player on the European Tour, is the headline name on the European team.

He is joined by compatriot Ross Fisher, who is ranked sixth on the European Tour.

In three previous rounds of the EurAsia Cup, 37-year-old Fisher has an 83.33 per cent winning percentage with two wins and one half.

This is a higher win-rate than any of the other 23 players taking part in this year’s event on the Malaysian course.

The Asian team, captained by Arjun Atwal of India, includes three of the top five ranked players on the Asian Tour.

These are number one Gavin Green of Malaysia, number three Phachara Khongwatmai of Thailand and Shiv Chawrasia, the number five from India.

However, the star attraction on the team could be Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who is ranked at number 11 on the European Tour, a stronger competition than its Asian counterpart.

The Bangkok native finished 15th at the 2016 Masters Tournament and will be key to his side's hopes in Malaysia.

The match-play event will start tomorrow with the four-ball competition before the foursomes takes place the following day (January 13).

Those two competitions will see teams of two compete against each other as opposed to the singles event on Sunday (January 14), which closes the competition.
