France's Marie Bochet claimed another gold at the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup in Zagreb following her win on Sljeme mountain yesterday.

Bochet, who won four golds at Sochi 2014, recorded a total time of 1min 59.90secs in two runs of the women’s standing slalom event, exactly four seconds in front of Russian Varvara Voronchikhina, who is competing as a neutral athlete following the International Paralympic Committee's (IPC) decision to suspend the Russian Paralympic Committee for doping offences.

Bochet's run of World Cup victories now stretches to six after taking golds in both of the opening two World Cup events of the season in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Kuhtai, Austria.

Slovakia's Petra Smarzova claimed the last place on the podium in the Croatian capital, in a time of 2:10.62.

Another skier who performed a clean-sweep at the events in Zagreb was Austria's two-time Paralympic champion Claudia Loesch, who took gold in the women's sitting by posting a time of 2:06.00 today.

Switzerland's Stephani Victor was some way back with a time of 2:44.74, but it was still enough to win silver.

Melissa Perrine of Australia took gold in the women's visually impaired event in a time of 2:01.64, adding to her win at the last World Cup event in Kuhtai.

South Korea's Jae Rim Yang finished 3.61 seconds behind Perrine to claim silver.

Surprisingly, pre-race favourite Henrieta Farkasova from Slovakia missed out on a podium finish after failing to complete her first run.

There was also a surprise in the men's sitting event with France's Frederic Francois taking the first World Cup gold of his career in a time of 1:51.95.

The 40-year-old had initially been down in fourth after a first run time of 56.63, but managed to post an excellent 55.32 to leap three places to the top of the podium at the end of the day.

Francois' compatriot Yohann Taberlet claimed silver in 1:52.24 with Poland's Igor Sikorski, who won gold yesterday, 1.65 seconds behind in third.

The two other men's events of the day, visually impaired and standing, were both won by Russian athletes competing as neutrals.

Ivan Frantsev took the visually impaired title in a time of 1:57.95 in front of Gernot Morgenfurt of Austria and South Korea’s Hwang Mingyu whilst Aleksei Bugaev claimed his fourth World Cup win of the season by winning the standing event in a time of 1:46.56.

France's Arthur Bauchet, a two-time Tarvisio champion, claimed silver.

The athletes will now travel to Kranjska Gora in Slovenia for the next event, which is scheduled to take place from January 11 to 12.
